Private Party/Non-Commercial Rate Guidelines

  • Classified private party rates are available only to private individuals who are not in the business to sell or market items being sold in their ad. The Private Party rate is available only for non-commercial items for sale. This rate is not applicable for those providing services or for those seeking to purchase items or services. Furthermore, individuals must be of legal age (18 or older) to place advertising in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
  • All advertisements offered for publication in the Post-Gazette are subject to acceptance by the company. Questionable, misleading, controversial, or fraudulent statements are declined. The company reserves the right to disapprove any advertising copy, which in its sole judgement may be, deemed objectionable and undesirable. Furthermore, the company reserves the right to revise or reject any advertising copy, in its sole discretion for any reason whatsoever. Payment does not guarantee publication. Only publication constitutes acceptance of an ad.
  • All real estate advertised herein is subject to the Federal Fair Housing Act of 1968 which makes it illegal to advertise 'any preference, limitations, or discrimination based on race, color, religion, handicap, familial status, or national origin, or intention to make any such preferences, limitation, or discrimination.' We will not knowingly accept any advertising for real estate which is in violation of the law. All persons are hereby informed that all dwellings advertised are required to be available on an equal opportunity basis in accordance with applicable law. Private Party Cancellation and Error Policy

  • After the start date, there is no discount for canceling your ad.  Cancellations must be received by 4:00pm the preceding day and 4:00pm Thursday for the Sunday edition, in order for your ad to be removed from publication. To cancel your ad, please call 412-263-1201 during business hours.
  • Classified private party ad copy is locked in for the newspaper edition. In newspaper, no changes in items, description or ad copy can occur until the ad expires.   Limited changes are permitted to the online version excluding the addition of items not previously advertised for in the original ad copy.
