If I place my classified ad online, will it
also appear in the newspaper?
When placing an ad online,
you have the option to have it published online only or online and in the
newspaper. This choice is made when you
select an ad plan.
Do I have to use a credit card to place an
ad online?
Yes. Credit cards – or Visa or MasterCard debit
cards – must be used when placing an ad online. If you use a Visa or MasterCard debit card, please refer to your
bank’s guidelines for usage information.
Why do I have to enter my credit card
information every time I place an ad?
It is the policy of the Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette not to store your credit card information. You simply have to re-enter it each time you
place an ad on post-gazette.com.
How does placing an ad online work?
1. First, you will select the category for your classified ad. Only selected categories are available for
online ad placement. For a complete
list of available categories, click here.
2. Then, you will choose the classification for your ad.
3. Next, you will choose an ad plan. The ad plan will determine if your ad will be published in the
newspaper and/or online.
4. After choosing your ad plan, you will enter information about the
item you’re selling and how potential buyers should contact you. Please note that not all fields entered will
appear in your ad text; some are used to allow potential buyers to more
accurately search for your item online.
5. Then, you will enter the ad text and choose optional enhancements
for your ad. If you selected an ad plan
that includes a print and online ad, you will first write and opt to enhance
your print ad. You will be able to
proof your ad (in the newspaper and online version) on the same page as you enter
the text. If your ad plan includes
photos, you will upload them from your computer at this time.
6. The next step is to schedule your ad. Depending on deadlines, the first available date for your ad to
run is the first date displayed. For
online ad placement deadlines, click here.
7. After you schedule your ad, it’s time to review it. Once you’re satisfied with your selections,
go to the next step.
8. To pay for your ad, you will first have to be logged in. Either log in or create and account, and
then enter in your billing information.
